Apocalypse Now is just one of those movies that by now I have seen, literally 8-12 times, not all the through each time, of course, but when its's on I just can't turn it off. And Yes, every time I see it I see something else. It's a trippy, frightening, barbaric trip. Fascinating though. I do try not to see it but every 2 or 3 years. It still has the power to break me up. Anyway, I think age has a lot to do with it. I think you'll see alot of that type of perspective explored with the "Private Ryan" movie. My Dad and John Wayne were in WWII, as was Archie Bunker, and my brother was in Vietnam. Anyway, that makes me a historical critic in some respects. As for the bovine massacre, the obious is that it's Marlon who is being sacrificed. But I feel its that we as Americans are mor offended by the slaughter of animals than we are of human being?! Go figure.
