They were bloodier than any of the other American (Central, North, Latin, South) tribes - wouldn't they have been better fodder for a movie maker seeking violent gore? Then you have that really nasty run-in with Cortez and the other Conquistadors at the end of their empire, which might have been bloodier than anything else in the Aztec's history. Really, the Mayans pale in comparison. I wish someone would take Gary Jennings' book "Aztec" and turn that into a movie - now that would make millions, E-sat!
