I am very skeptical that any country will ever get 80% of its electricity from a combination of wind and solar power. However, if it ever does happen, I will readily acknwoledge it.
I am against government subsidies to all kinds of energy, including nuclear power.
Since carbon dioxide emissions are a concern, I think we should place a tax of $100 on each ton of carbon dioxide emissions, and use that money to lower the regressive social security and medicare taxes. I think this would do far more to solve the problem of global warming than the Kyoto Treaty.
I am against the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage proposal. I think the current system of storing waste on site works very well.
If we do have one central location to store waste, I don't trust the U.S. government to do it properly. Perhaps we could hire France to do it.
