Does Germany, Britain, Canada, and France "waste" taxpayer money mostly taking care of drug addicts, hookers, and people too lazy to work?
Why there standard of living must be way lower than ours what with the punitive taxes needed to fund these systems.
WAKE UP, JWilson! We no longer have a higher standard of living than Germans, British, or Canadians. And whether our standard of living is better than the Japanese, who also have a great universal health care system, is questionable. Let's put it another way: If a citizen of that country goes to the American Counsel in Britain, Germany, Japan, or Canada in order to emigrate to the U.S. of A., the line they'll be looking for will be the short one.
EMBRACE REALITY: You are supporting a system which charges more per person than any other country on Earth, yet fails to deliver time after time. For those of us with "good" insurance, it's still a constant battle every time something major happens. I'm fucking sick of these goddamned insurance companies second guessing doctors and embracing a business model that goes through Herculean efforts to provide insurance only to healthy people.*
Our Health is broken. Time to fix it.

*Yesterday, it was revealed in your state that Blue Cross/Blue Shield sent letters to doctors asking them to verify that their patients had not pre-existing conditions in order that they might drop such patients in order to control costs. Sort of makes on wish that the California BC/BS managers would develop nasty chronic illnesses, doesn't it?
