But it conflicted with "Wild Wild West's" shooting schedule, so he turned it down. What a FOOL he was. I'm not as big of a "Matrix" fan as everybody else in this thread, but it was a ZILLION times better than "Wild Wild West" and will easily outgross it. On the other hand, I bet Will got a ton of money upfront for "WWW" and he wouldn't have for "Matrix" (the movie's gross doesn't mean a thing unless they cut a rare deal like Reeves' for parts 2 and 3 that gives them a percentage of the profits-- which is a dangerous thing for an actor to do because if the movie bombs, there won't be any profits, and who knew how popular the "Matrix" would be? Nicholson taking the deal for "Batman" made sense, though, because everybody knew that movie was going to make a huge profit).
