07/03/01: Well, i'm not sure if this helps or no..

..but in my experience, usually, if a female coworker has a boyfriend, he'll inevitably come up in a casual conversation, at some point..

Something like "Oh, my boyfriend Ted picks his nose in the EXACT same fashion!" or something...

My surefire way to 'test the waters', so to speak, is to wait for a slow portion of the day, and then, seemingly as if i'm just trying to make conversation, ask "So, what kind of plans have you got for tonite?" or "Anything exciting going on in your life, this weekend?"

More often then not, if they have a man, they'll mention him in their response..

If they answer with something like "I'm heading down to the lake", or something cryptic like that, you can usually press a little bit further by inquiring "So you're just going with some friends, then?"

At this point, you have her cornered, and she almost HAS to reveal her relational status :)

I don't know if this helps at all, but good luck to you..
