But struggling farmers saw dollar signs and pushed and shoved the corn based ethanol industry down our throats. Now that wheat prices are way up I'm sure they'll plant alot of that next year...
Brazil uses sugar cane for their ethanol program, slightly better than corn.
I don't think ethanol was ever supposed to "save" the environment. It's just us trying to break the chains of OPEC dependancy...
There is not enough arable land on the planet to replace oil completely and feed 6 Billion+ humans year-round anyway!
