The cob represents the phallus, and is thus symbolic of the dominance of patriarchy over womyn throughout herstory. However, it also represents womyn's inherent superiority to endure. By accepting the phallus-cob, the Senator is showing that woman can internalize the challenge of patriarchy, and thus gain agency for themselves!
