06/13/02: Does anyone know anything about neo-classical composers?

I was thinking about buying some CDs of stuff by the oldest of the new - Debussy, Ravel, and Erik Satie - but I'm overwhelmed by the sheer volume of recordings per composer. Can anyone recommend certain pieces or performances, bearing in mind that I like ambient music?
