Rajah, it's the same here in The Netherlands. For the past decade we've seen office building/complex after another being build and little is done to decrease shortage of affordable houses and apartments.
Yet they continue building office buildings while there are many that still empty.
You know what genius idea the government had to inspire people who rent low-cost apartments to move to 'better' (higher rent) living space? They proposed *increasing* the rent of low-cost living space!
Ah, Dutch mercantile spirit... Meanwhile, the 'social- apartments corporations,' once designed to provide low- cost living space so everyone could afford it, have become like other other big corporations. Filthy rich. And they continue to raise the rent every year.
Holland is becoming more capitalist every year. The "Labour Party" has become basically a right-wing party, just like the Labour Party in the United Kingdom.
