I'm watching Battlefield Earth on SciFi, and this is the second time I've seen it. I don't know why everyone hates this movie, because I'm laughing so hard I'm afraid I might wet myself. I object to the dig at Ed Wood and Plan 9, because Plan 9 from Outer Space is a masterpiece compared to this piece of something else.
Let's see, Psychlos take over the Earth in 9 minutes, but their technology can't deal with a handful of savages using the same weapons that were defeated a millenium earlier. Planes start, weapons work, and people can be easily trained to fly them in a short period of time, and they can defeat an alien force using better technology that the alien military has been trained to use.
Every Dianetics book ever sold couldn't plug the plot holes in this piece of crap. Actually I can't even call it crap, because crap filed a defamation of character suit after critics reviewed this movie as crap.
I've had to rethink my opinions on Waterworld and The Postman, as the most godawful big budget science fiction movies ever. I can't even imagine that this is one part of a set of ten books. Gee, I hope the other parts are as good as this one...
