OK, let's get some shit straight. First of all this movie isn't the worst I have ever seen, in fact I believe that award goes to "Freddie got fingered" which is pure horrid shit. However This movie is by no means a masterpiece. I read the book and I must admit, I thought it was pretty damn good, and found it very entertaining. But when I saw the movie I was very pist off, for the reason that the screenwriters totally screwed up the whole story. In fact there seems to be very little in common between the movie and the book. I believe they could have done a much better job with the movie, but instead made a movie that had very little effort put in to it.
Even for those of you who like the movie, you have to admit that the cavemen flying harrier jets is pure bullshit, I mean what the fuck, whose ass did they pull that idea out off. At least L. Ron Hubbard didn't write the book that far fetched, as there were no harrier jets in the book, but instead highjacked psychlo fighter jets. I could go on and on about the harrier jet example, but I'll skip that and go on to the time lapse, which is entirely absent in the movie. There is no way that anyone could train to fight a master race in nine days, and if I remember in the book correctly a couple years went by in the book to prepare for battle.
As the book goes, as I said I found it entertaining, although it did have it's far fetched momments from time to time, and battlefield is not my favorite sci-fi books, I believe Dune by Frank Herbert is by far supperior.
PS - L. Ron Hubbard is one scary looking dude, though
