Actually, you can look at the movie whatever the hell way you want to, but you'd probably have more fun with it if you took it as a joke. Personally, I thought ARMAGEDDON was less boring than DEEP IMPACT (though I didn't care much for either) since at least I could laugh at/with the former. DEEP IMPACT just put me to sleep.
