taking my books away because I'd read during math class. She would take my book away and I'd pull another one out of my desk when she wasn't looking and read. Eventually, she stopped taking them away, thinking I'd pay attention when I failed the math test coming up. I aced the test, and she left me alone.
At Parent-Teacher conferences, She sat down, looked my mom in the eye, and said: "I never thought I'd say this to a parent, but Holly reads too much."
It's one of my mom's favorite stories.
