The last news that I heard about the show was that Duchovny's contract is up this year. He has no intention of renewing. Anderson's contract was supposed to be up next year, but she recently announced that she got out of it so that this year is also her last year. Carter also still has one year after this one in his contract. What that could mean, I don't know...
All parties have shown interest in a Star Trek-like movie every couple of years gig.
And now for a couple of random points...
"I always thought they'd end the show with Scully dying, for some reason. I guess because of her cancer. It's in remission...doesn't mean it can't come back." - In Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, when she asks when and how she is going to die, he simply says, "You don't." Intriguing. Does that means EVER or just that she won't die of cancer? Hmmm.
"And was anyone else disappointed that Skinner seemed to be nearly non-existent this past season??" Yes, but the season overview in TV Guide a couple of weeks ago stated that there will be a twist with Krycek, more with Skinner and further development between the Mulder and Scully characters.
Hope that was helpful. I used to know more, but I let my fan club membership expire after the crap first half of last year...
