09/29/1999: Regarding that whole Yahoo/GeoCities merger thing...

(Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in "You Have Recived Electronic Mailings"!)

Recently I was there fooling around with my account, trying to get it all squared away (apparently I hadn't already done that) so I could finally get onto my site's FTP (at GeoCities) and delete my dumbass old web site.

So I'm there and I also mess with my mail since it's required (or I just went with whatever they said to be fucking done with it already), and I choose to have both mail accounts combined, but my primary account being at the Yahoo address (which weaves something kooky now, because the zerg.com address I use is just a redirect service that redirects to GeoCities which redirects to Yahoo, pooling everything I get with my Yahoo address too).

So I check my Yahoo address just out of curiosity (and while wondering why my GeoCities account doesn't seem to work right--this was after I forgot about my account being changed), and find that all my GeoCities mail is there. I "duh!@!!!" myself and catch up on my old mail on the web-based mail page there.

I resetup my mail client so it can actually get new mail from it instead of having to go to the web site every time. Convinient.

So I just checked my mail.

ONE HUNDRED, NINTY MESSAGES. Downloading instantly, all at once. And not new messages, but every single one of my old messages from my Yahoo address, including every embarassing exchange I had with a certain beast of a boovin that will go unnamed (I assure everyone reading this that you probably don't know this person, but I'm ashamed to have been affiliated with them).

Plus, my client, by default, deletes every message successfully downloaded. So I'm guessing that if I were to go to the Yahoo site, there would be nothing there since all the messages were allegedly automatically deleted. Which is actually handy for that 5 meg mail quota that probably still exists.

Kind of handy, but it was just weird to see me downloading ONE HUNDRED NINTY messages all at once and then to see my entire past of having a Yahoo address (the address is about a year old, too) flood my mailbox.

And since that's the theme of this web site--people gathering together to talk about how they changed their mail account only to recieve exactly 190 messages in their inbox--I figured I'd post about it here.

Well, I gotta get to some major reading and/or deleting now. C yough all. Wait, you're not reading this.

FUK U AND SUK MY GIANT KOK U LAMERZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111@!!@#@!!@##!@!@!!@!
