12/22/1999: Slipknot's big rip-off...

Posted By: Parca_Mortem

I'm getting annoyed by the fact that in several stores (particularly chain stores) and all over the web I'm seeing copies of Slipknot's "BANNED FROM MTV!!!" video, "Slip it Out". They're advertising it as if it were some very disturbing video, or at least one filled with very sick stuff... And it is selling well...

Of course, the video is tame. I don't think the video was banned so much as rejected. I've watched it several times on cable access music programs. All that goes on is that the guys tamely re-enact scenes from "The Shining", without any blood nor nudity, nor much violence. Heck, the only violence is one slow-mo shot of one guy trying to bat another guy in the head, who misses. And another guy is carrying an axe through an snow-filled corridor, without doing anything with it. The only disturbing image I found was a close up shot on one headbanging kid that tried to pose cool and creepy but wound up looking like one of the greatest airheads in history...

As for the song, well, I can't make out a single word the lead singer says, so I don't know if he's saying anything that is fucking "offensive". Quite frankly, there's more violence in an episode of "Beast Wars" than in this crap. And there's more "sick" stuff going on in soap operas...

Don't spend your money on this self-named "controversy".
