Penelope is hopeful that most of the racist and homophobic drivel that has been posted at this site was written by several 15-year-old white boys who are not really aware of what they are saying. (And some of the respondents' behavior is not much better.) Surely adults would not believe these things, and even if they did, surely they would show some restraint in what they wrote. I wonder if not responding to inflammatory posts would do more to stop these people than flaming them apparently does.
The kind of vile things people say behind a cloak of anonymity is sickening. I really hope that this site is not really a reflection of America. If so, we are in deep trouble.
