It takes determination and luck to succeed in show business. Obviously, there are different ways to make it to Hollywood. Some people wait tables at Spago, hoping to foist scripts off on the glitterati that lunch there. I just played comedy clubs after I graduated from ASU. Luckily, I got a job at snl starting in 1990. That probably helped more than "Police Academy 4"...
It all depends on what kind of an actress you want to be. I don't think I'll ever be the Mel Gibson, leading man type--and that's fine. If you are looking for Oscars and such, your best bet is probably something like the Groundlings. Beats me. I'm just a comic.
