I think it's much like anything else you do for the first time. TV is nice; what I really liked about SNL (and stand up) was the whole interaction with the audience thing. There's no drug that will get you as high as working a crowd and feeling a positive reaction from them.

SNL was especially good for this, because the audience was always so positive.

>How do you feel about people you don't even know come up to >you and say Hi to you, and having a lot of fans come up to >you and ask for your autograph does it ever >bug you?

I'm only human, and like everyone else there are times when I'm happier with the attention I get in public than others. I do enjoy interacting with fans on a limited basis, because without them I'd probably be pumping gas. But I'm not the hero-worship personality type, so when someone says something to me like "David Spade, you've changed my life" (which doesn't happen often), I don't really know how to take it.

That's not something I could imagine saying to anyone. It'd be different if I was a world-class heart surgeon and I just successfully operated on someone, but I'm just a comic.

But I do appreciate it when someone comments that they like my work, or thought I was funny in something they saw. That's always nice.

Take care,

DS
