Since you've never seen Bladerunner, I advise you rent the letterboxed edition. The scenery/cityscapes play such a huge role in this film that it takes the letterboxing to give you the true scope of the fantastic world Scott's created.
If you live in a big city (I'm in Chicago) and have the opportunity to catch this on an IMAX screen, do it! It's amazing!
