This was explained in the movie. Sean Young was merely one of the Nexus 6 batch implanted with memories. My theory is that they were planning to make all of them ordinary humans. Sean Young's replicant must have been out of the room at the time that the others escaped(the one who "was fried" must have destroyed whatever force field was there), then they brought in Harrison Ford to eliminate the remaining 4(not 5).
