OK, I can't take it any longer...what is the deal with everyove and their Mother giving this movie such terrible reviews? First of all the first BW was a great movie in the sense that it was new, fesh, and quite frankly shocking in it's originality. But, it was also a shitty movie in the sense that it was terribly shot, extremely dull, and put together with glue and spit, compared to most modern productions.
BW2, first of all, had obvious money behind the production (which doesn't make it a good film, but non the less at least makes it a well done "movie"). Secondly, for some crazy reson, everyone, including seasoned movie critics, failed to catch the real plot, and "scary" nuances of the flick. The acting, which for sure was not top notch, did not detract from the overall scary, and actually downright grim picture that the movie painted.
Let's get it straight, finally, that the movie was not about video footage that somehow "changed" after the fact. The movie may have showed the charactors preforming whatever actions they did, and in the end showed on tape, something different. The scary thing here is that the witch (whom we never see, as in the original) made these people act in a certain, and ghastly way, not even understanding what and why they were doing these things, and then, through the use of actual footage, what really happened. Nothing "changed" on the tapes...the tapes showed the actual events. None of the characters knew what they were really doing once they got into the Black Hills.
Yeah, in a way it was gory, but that't what the gendre, and the fans of the gendre demand. All in all, with all the mindless, rediculous shit that's out there (like Urban Legends - Final Cut) BW 2 stands up proudly and has alot to say that hasn't been said before.
Sure, it could have been better, but overall, I actually enjoyed the movie very much, and left the theater thinking about all the shit that had occurred.
Open you minds, pepole, and give it a frickin' chance. Don't listen to all the hype, negative or positive. Use your own small minds and see what's there. I bet you walk away with a more positive experience.
