1) What the fuck was the Book of Shadows, and why was it in the title if it wasn't going to be in the movie?
I asked my roommate about this one, and she just shrugged helplessly. I'm thinking the BoS was that book that Tristian and Steven were writing. It had pictures, sketches, police reports, bla-bla-bla. Looked more like a scrapbook than literature, but then again, I had nothing to do with this movie except for one rental that I guarantee won't happen again.
2) What the fuck WAS the Secret of Eserver? I watched that damned video backward, forward and sideways, and i found all of the images and words they were talking about. The words I found were: "no" "or" and "further" (not in that order). What the fuck is that? Who's Eserver? Why does he have a secret? What does it have to do w/ the fucking movie? Why? Why? Why?
Gotta agree with the last poster here. Esrever = reverse... IN reverse. How fucking clever. 9_9 I think there were supposed to be some hidden messages or images if you actually wanted to pause, rewind, or go frame-by-frame to check them out. We saw "Seek" in the flames, too. Seek No Further Or...?
3) Did they do that stuff on the videos? Were they crazy? Or did the BW or whatever "change" the tapes?
That's one of those annoying open-ended things. :P I'm inclined to believe that the tape didn't lie. IMO, the group committed the murders and torture while believing (and showing us through their eyes) that they'd just hung out in the factory and waited to be picked off and ganged up on. Remember, they repeatedly pounded it into us that they'd "taken something back with them"? Maybe it was demon posession/insanity.
4) Why did the trailers say that one of the people in the movie had a secret and, like, knew what was going on? Who the hell was it? What did they know? Why did the trailer, the title, ALL of the advertising COMPLETELY LIE? And can I sue?
There were shitloads of secrets. We never figured out any of Jeff's past or why he was a lunatic, Kim's 6th sense was never explained, Erica never bothered to say why her self- righteous witch rants and bitchings about hecklers were any different from the "abuse" she got from "normal" people, Tristian's baby was only a secret for three scenes... I'm pretty sure you can sue. Talk to your local attorney.
5) What was that one dude in the asylum for? Why didn't they tell us? I figure it was SUPPOSED to have something to do w/ everything.
I'm pretty sure that was Jeff. See, one thing about this movie: chronological order was chewed up and spit out all over the cellulose. They ruined all the suspense by (a) telling us at the BEGINNING that it's all a re-enactment and (b) showing the survivors being interrogated after the fact. And they must've thought Jeff was insane after finding out that he helped kill two girls and was at least involved in the murders of the other tour members. That's as much as I can tell. They just sort of threw in blood- stained violence at random intervals, gave us one contradiction after another, showed reality as one thing and footage as another, threw in some interrogation, and glued it all together into their movie. It was all about as organized and coherent as a modern Nike commercial.
6) Why does this movie have absolutely nothing to do with the original? We don't even know if the BW had anything to do w/ what happened in this movie. No idea. We aren't even supposed to believe that it has anything to do w/ it. So why associate it?
Well... I think BW2 was supposed to be the aftermath. People tramped into the woods to find some BW knick-knacks or whatever, and (as noted) brought back something worse.
7) Finally, and most importantly: Why does this movie have no ending? I mean, why, just when you think, "Okay, this is interesting. How are they going to get out of the police station and figure out what's going on?" the credits roll. I would have liked some kind of fucking conclusion. That's what I put my $$$ down for - the part where you figure out the bad guy and the score gets settled, either way. That's the climax- the rush. What a gyp.
Because they don't want to give answers. The more they give us, the thinner they'll have to spread the material to cover any sequels.
What I'd like to know is why there were eight kids on the road instead of seven when Kim was driven into a tree, why their five hours translated to about five minutes of footage, who really fucked up the van, what was up with all the hidden words and pictures, what the FUCK was up with that tree, why we didn't get more male nudity, and how much pure unadulterated heroin I'd need to enjoy this movie on (God forbid) a second run.
