Haven't you ever been lost?
I expect that in woods that go on for miles and miles and miles, it would actually be pretty easy to walk in a big circle - and I thought the whole point of Heather saying (loud and clear) that they'd "been walking South all day" was to show that there was something supernatural fucking with them. . .that somehow, the Blair Witch was making sure they stayed lost.
I watched this movie for the second time last night on DVD, and I am at a loss as to why people say it "sucks". If you don't like the camera style, if you don't like seeing movies without "stars" in them, fine, but I have yet to hear a complaint about the story or plot.
So? Who feels like duking it out? Cuz I think this film was original, frightening, and yes, pretty fucking good.
