Did I want to be connected to the characters? I wanted to be connected to characters, but not these characters.
Easy to say while in a comfortable chair? Am I armchair quarterbacking? Well, I've been in extremely weird situations, including 3 muggings, and managed to keep life, limb, finances, and bowel control. I think I can assess how well I react to weirdness.
I seem to remember a section that was part1 of interview A, other footage, then part2 of interview A. Unedited footage? Then why does it yoyo frow B&W to Color? How did they know when to switch from one camera to the other?
I went to the film curious about what all the fuss was, not with any set expectations. I was didn't really know what to expect. I stayed because A) I wanted to see these characters die--preferablly grusomely, and B) 13th warrior was next and I wanted to get my $ worth. Bluntly, I saw better films produced on less budget at the amateur film festival 2 weeks ago. If you want an amatuer film to look at, try I Scream, TaxiderMe, or Scary A GoGo.
I freely admit I am prone to snap decisions: I knew ID4 was in trouble in 3 seconds, when they relied on sensory assault to show how "wonderful and important this was going to be" by going from a black screen to Blinding White Flash to Black/repeat. BWP was just as bad, but it was bad on a fraction of the budget.
If I go to a horror movie, I expect to be horrified, disgusted, repulsed, startled, or at least alarmed. This didn't even have the guts or courage to provide T&A on the side (Not that I'd have wanted to see if from these people).
If you enjoy it, fine. And at least you tried to defend it. I didn't, and I think I've done a far better job of explaining it than the "It Sucked" that most people provide. Good luck.
