I LIKED Gore's speech. I thought he did a good job stating his case, and trying to move focus to the issues instead of his (lack of) personality.

I also don't think it did anything to convince non- Democrats that he's the one to vote for - it may have cemented most of the wavering support in his own party, but it won't get him the election. And don't forget that the debates aren't scheduled until the election is pretty much over. So it looks like Bush in a landslide to me.

I heard one commentator describe it as "the most Populist speech since Harry Truman" which I felt was accurate.

And Grundle, just because you don't want to help the struggling working-class in this country doesn't mean that Gore shouldn't.
