Well, it looks like I've missed most of the party - or, perhaps, the party starts as soon as I leave for a few days, which seems more likely - but if you care, here's a brief summary of Monday and after:
Monday: Went shoe-shopping with Mom in preparation for the before-school retreat. My shoe size is now 13. Got a call from Ms. Gammell telling me to come to school for the retreat instead of Pier 41.
Tuesday: Went to school; milled about with classmates. Turns out they canceled the senior retreat to Angel Island because it was too expensive (read: they saved the fun retreats for the freshmen* and sophomores).
Wednesday: Another boring day of "retreat" (in quotes because, by definition, you actually go somewhere on a retreat). The seniors had to make cards for and have lunch with the incoming freshmen*. I was grouped with a boy who was very quiet and sad-looking - that is, until the group "activity," at which point he started giving me attitude during a dispute, which I will not go into in great detail, over the correct lyrics to Afroman's "Because I Got High." Memo: Smack that punk if I see him again.
Today: The day off - the seniors have the final "retreat" day tomorrow. More school shopping shortly. I am really not as miserable as I sound. Oh, and my shoes were a big hit, making this the first time I have succeeded socially with footwear from Payless.
* According to my friend/classmate Yamini, "freshmen" is sexist and we must now say "freshpeople." Discuss.
