Ever hear the phrase 'jack of all trades, master of none'? Mel's been in every kind of genre pic, and been thoroughly mediocre in all of them. Braveheart is history as pantomime, as usual, deciding to dispense with any political realism in favour of loads of violence and sneering villains.
