I do not now, never have, and never will expect Americans to understand Art. I am reliably informed that some, such as Hemingway, Steinbeck, Pollock, Warhol, etc, etc, have done so, but you, dear reader, will never have heard of any of those people.

I am not such an optomist as to expect any of you to have bothered to read the book (books: those big paper things y'all use as doorstops?).

Should you do so, you might begin to comprehend that "Mandolin" is allegory; that warfare in the context of the work is a mere incidental. Art, incredible as it may seem to youse, really is not about who is bigger, tougher, has more guns or even about who's got the best tits.

Needless to say, I have not bothered to read a single one of the absurd "posts" on this topic, as I am not only a European, but a Brit, and can safely dismiss all opinion on this topic from your side of the pond as worthless trash.

A statement, which, let's face it, most of your compatriots with two braincells left to rub together would agree with.

However, given your predeliction for narcotics and sports which no-one else has ever heard of, I must frankly doubt that such an individual exists.

Nothing I have read in this forum gives me reason to believe otherwise, and I look forward to a stream of mindless obscenity, un-enforcable threats, laughable jingoism and absurd spelling with more pleasure than you can possibly imagine.

To further compound your justified sense of inferiority, please let me point out that I left school at the age of 14,and have received no further education since.

However, one is rather grateful thatone hasn't had to learn such complex languages as German, Russian or Arabic, and thus would like to conclude this friendly little missive by saying GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Clever bastards. Why can't WE make movies people actually like? And pay good money to go and see? Answer me that, then!
