I loved this film - and that Cranky didn't like, well, no surprise - is there a movie here, other than some of the ones he saw while under sedation/torture, that he liked?
Mike Leigh is a brilliant director - I love all his films. Yes, they are long and uncomfortable, but that is the point of his films - a clear, direct look at life, no glossing over or amazing lines that someone else would not have said in real life.
