My first post here was just a troll, motivated out of my terror that if Platinum Dragon and Doc Empirical called a truce, then one of the site's oddest flame wars would be over. Since it's one of the only battles I wasn't already involved in, I felt bound to muck in.
I do agree with the Dragon's opinion about escalation. If you flame an asshole all you get is a bigger flame. Some fights are pathetic, drawn out, and kill otherwise interesting threads.
So, don't post. We know who the loser trollers are, and it's best not to respond. I'm trying to curb my temper in this regard.
Blue, I certainly didn't mean to imply that every post should be a flame. What I meant was don't respond unless you're prepared to continue flaming. For some reason its very rare for the best flame to win a war here, so I think it's best not to bother unles you're in it for the fun of it.
I was never a school bully, and lost fights more often that I won them. I learned quickly that there's no way to call a truce - you win, or you lose, or you back off and let the other guy think he won. Saves having to do it all again tomorrow.
