I have found that today's treasure is tomorrows trash also.
Young writer friends of mine have taken the individualism of the 1990s to mean that we are all interested in their subjective slant on the world.
While genius is noted through difference, theirs is not genius material, rather self obsessed.
Indulgent.
Self-serving.
Obscure.
That is all I see. It's not that they are not great writers. But no reader can connect with their work.
