My writer friends......
Well one just had her play produced as an experimental work, and the reviews called it a
'heavy, complex piece'.
Genius? No. I was implying that their work attempts the unique eye of genius - but they are only role-playing. Some attempted poets I know do read publicly, but I do not attend because there is only so much new-aged suicidal ponderings I can take. It's enough hearing them privately.
If one wants to be an undiscovered genius then fine. Accessibility is not a problem.
Write from the heart,
write what you must,
write what your inspiration orders you to
write, write write.
If people connecting is what you want - then strive to communicate. But if it's purely for your own comfort/ indulgence - who cares?
For what it is worth, I feel that all writers must write what they want - for nothing less will please them. However if what pleases you does not please others, you must be satisfied with this or change.
I think of !pang - he writes for himself, but some will not read.
