Welcome to the OCD club! I am a survivor of severe OCD in my adolescence. I was able to overcome the worst of it on my own, through extintion and self-challenges. The rest improved gradually over time, particularly when I moved away from the primary triggers of my OCD.
Of course, there are still times when I feel that I have no control over my life and everything is going wrong, makes little sense, the feeling that many things seem to happen for no natural reason, and maybe luck is involved... and then the OCD tries to creep back in.
Hypnosis does also help with OCD. Most shrinks go for systematic desensitization. That works with many, but for some I feel it is too severe.
Of course, crankyland is full of posters with obsessive-compulsive tendencies.
