I am fully aware of the fact that all over the United States, the millionaire owners of professional sports teams, and the millionaire athletes who play for these teams, are receving huge subsidies from the government. In some cases, when a new stadium is built at a cost of $250 million, approximately 80% of the cost comes from taxpayers.
Every year, the federal government pays farmers BILLIONS of dolars to NOT grow food. This decrease in the food supply raises the price of food by further BILLIONS of dollars. Then, the very same politicians who favor these programs say that in oder to help the hungry children in this country, the government should spend more money on food stamps. What a bunch of hypocrites!
Every year, the federal government gives millions of dollars in subsidies to tobacco companies. Of course, the politians who favor these programs are, for the most part, the same politicians who are waging the current "war on tobacco."
Every year, the United States federal government gives millions of dollars of McDonald's to pay for overseas advertising.
All over the country, state and local governments are giving huge subsidies to buinesses to build new factories, new stores, etc. According to the politicans, this "creates" jobs. Of course, these politicians are wrong. In reality, these policies simply transfer jobs from whatever is taxed to whatever is subsidized. There is no net "creation" of jobs.
