12/27/02: Not a Woody Allen fan.

A lot of his movies are watchable, and have funny moments, but I never want to see them again. They're like being stuck in a room with people who are intermittently entertaining, but you can never get a word in edgewise, and you have to listen to way too much neurotic babble before there's a payoff. I'd be waiting for a break in the conversation so I could bolt, but there never seems to BE any break.

I was underwhelmed by Pulp Fiction, and Tarantino in general. Sure, he did a lot of things we've never seen before, but I never felt the emotional impact it seemed I supposed to. I just found myself thinking, "well, I've never seen *that* before." I don't like the way he tries so hard to shock with something freakish, and then draws out the scene....Well, aren't you shocked?...well aren't you?...aren't you?? That was very clever of me, wasn't it?!
