...which i agree is a very entertaining flick..
Okay, Ed Neumeier wrote the screenplay for a movie called 'Bughunt'.. Someone said "Say, that sounds an awful lot like Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers.. Let's buy the rights for that!"
So they did..
And they called Bughunt "Starship Troopers".. And they brought Verhoeven on board.. Verhoeven, however, was sold on making a SERIOUS WWII-type war movie in Space..
Neumeier kept having to step in and say "no, Paul. Actually we WANT this scene to be kind of cheesy...."
Whether it's true or no, i don't know.. Could just be Verhoeven (who seems to be a VERY funny guy) making up stories..
I think that's a neat tale, though..
