...though he is technically very skilled. But, Fight Club excepted, he's an immature artist whose vision caters to adolescent sensibilities.
Spielberg's only truly overrated film is Saving Private Ryan (and it's maligned by just as many people as those who love it). Amistad, The Lost World, and AI are far better than they're typically given credit for. And Minority Report is the only accurately reviewed Spielberg film since Schindler's List.
Overrated directors: Todd Haynes, Wes Anderson, Wim Wenders, Michael Moore, Larry Clarke.
