Actually, it was written by John Rogers, who wrote "The Core." Consider that film: a sci-fi film with so many scientific absurdities that the only way to suspend disbelief and accept it is to hypothesize that it's set in some bizarre alternate dimension where the laws of physics we know just don't apply.
So I wouldn't expect much.
