11/27/1998: dreams of alan alda

I miss Alan Alda. That such a fine thespian should be missing from a Woody Allen (or "The Woodster", as those hep film school cats refer to him) film is simply heart-wrenching. I mean, what the hell is Alan Alda doing these days that takes priority over appearing in yet another "Woodster" chin-holder (I call Allen's films "chin-holders" because no matter how mediocre or self-indulgent they are, while watching them you're supposed to chuckle and hold your chin as if you are watching intellectual comedy of the highest order.)?

Anyway, I enjoyed Alda's brilliant turn as a singing ninny in "Everybody Says I Love You" so much that I will not watch another Woody Allen film until he brings the master Mash veteran back into the nebbish New York fold....or until he treats his audience to more of Mira Sorvina's fabulously durable cleavage. Whichever comes first.
