DMagic, at the time The Excorist was probably very scary to most as it was before all the slasher/gory movies appeared.
I always thought Phantasm was one of the best scary movies. I love the ball drilling into their heads and the tall guy was scary, too. I'd say the original Nightmare on Elm was tied with it. It's too bad they produced all the lame sequels afterwards because the original was awesome.
