Here's something I heard about skeletons that's rather unsettling. It may or may not be an urban legend, but I heard that the majority of skeletons on display in medical offices in this country that are *genuine* (as they all were until recent years) were basically acquired by murder.
The story is that certain entrepreneurs in India would kill people--usually street people--and prepare the skeletons from the bodies. They would be sold and end up in the USA.
That is why if I were in a medical profession and were in need of a skeleton for my office, I would much prefer one of the new ones made with miracle plastic. Supposedly they appear quite close to the real thing (I wonder if they're as heavy too?).
