09/15/04: Americas vicious cycle of big government.

Alright, here's how it works.

Liberals are always bitching that Republicans are spending too much. Do you think they mean it? Of course not. Name one specific social area where they dont want to spend as much or MORE than Republicans. Impossible of course.

So what's "fiscal responsibility"? Well, according to the Dems of course, it's never cutting spending. What it always is according to the Democrat party, is raising taxes to come closer to covering the ever increasing spending. Name ONE meaningful social program the Democrats do anything but propose spending more on?

Now the Repubbies come along in office. Well, you get all these people dependant on gov. It's the same old dynamic that has seen the federal gov grow without slacking throughout America's history. You start new programs easily enough, but once started those programs are impossible to end. You cant cut anything, they'll scream bloody murder and vote you out of office by the millions.

So, you spend, but since you're the "conservatives" you dont raise taxes. You borrow. Ballooning deficit.

Now here come the Dems again, back in power. Oh no, the 40% federal income + 10% state income + 8% city income + 9% sales + 50% retirement + 20% capital gains, those aren't enough. Gotta raise because of the deficit.

And the cycle continues...
