02/18/1999: JYD the wrestler

Died in an automobile accident last year in North Carolina. He was on his way to see his daughter graduate from college. The personna was partial adopted to honor a fine gentleman who did much for his friends, family and community.

Razor Ramon is still around using his real name Scott Hall along with Vinnie Vegas aka Desiel aka Kevin Nash.

It is pathetic to see Hulk Hogan doing his Hollywood Hogan sthick. Kind of makes you wish that his retirement had been real.

Most memorable match was back around 1982. Bob Bachman v. Nature Boy Ric Flair in a WWWF (before they dropped one W) v. NWA (now the WCW/NWO). They let the blood fly that night. Actually they had three matchs altogether all ending in draws.

Did anyone see the show called something like wrestling secrets revealed. Quite interesting to see a good deal of the blood is not squibs but nicks they give themselves using razor blades.

Someone I liked from the past was Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Talk about high flyers.

Yep, wrestler is soap operas for men though I've noticed some of the most ardent fans are women. I remember as a kid seeing a match in LA between The Destroyer (my boyhood idol) vs Pedro Morales for the world championship. One woman got so mad when the Destrpoyer was about to win that she took off her shoe and threw it at the destroyer as he had pedro in a figure four leglock. The shoe hit the Destroyer in what obviously not planned and the Destroyer's white mask quickly turned a crimson red.

Yep, give me wrestling over The Nanny anytime.
