This thing is very recent, it was on CCN Homepage yesterday.
As to temptation, never had any, and not only because I am honest in my research, it's just not worth it. Once you do something like that and are "Cought" (BTW, one day we should try to post something using only movies titles), that's it - you can't say "I am sorry, I will never do it again", as you can do in politics, for example. Finally, so far my projects usually worked out, with some painful (unpunlished, I should add) exceptions.
As to motivation, I agree with you. I still think the cases of fraud are very rare. BTW, this was medical research, which I think is still not absolutely rigorius (although I wouldn't call it "research", as in sociology).
