You have forgotten that I have an enourmous ego (and no sense of humour), and therefore it is quite natural for me to "personalise everything posted in my direction".

I think the pressure you mentioned results in something much more common than fraud/cheating: mediocre, sloppy, half-baked papers, just to have the publication list longer. Another thing: people competing to publish something first, as if two weeks difference was of any significance for the subject (it is significant from the Citation Index point of view, of course).

Yes, I agree with you on Collins, it is quite obvious that he has signed his name on something he didn't really test/control, but as we both know, it is quite common. To "personalise" again, reminds me when my advisor didn't want to be a co-author of my paper, although a lot of it was his idea. He just wasn't sure if I have done everything properly (which, needless to say, I have).
