I can't believe that you have never seen anyone fiddle their results to get by. It was almost compulsory in the physics class I took, you had to complete a certain number of experiments in a year, they had to have the results that matched existing theories. Even the spring experiment didn't result in a straight line graph like it was supposed to so we faked or failed. I have disproved completely all Newtonian physics, frightening.
The data looks good but the long term results do not support the data. Eg That nasty drug they used to give to pregnant women and Silcon implants. Some drugs that are approved still have extremely unpleasant side-effects, eg the ones they give to epileptics, stop the fits (mostly) in exchange for several years off their life expectancy.
The current controversy in Australia is over the latest rabbit virus (Calici or caleesee). It or a rabbit escaped off an island onto the mainland about a year before they officially completed their tests. The actual virus strain itself in different variations can infect humans. We have been promised this one is rabbit specific but I have trouble believing that it will stay that way. Just to confuse you, I still think it should be released.
Just call me paranoid.
