I think I can answer some of your questions.
1. What was the purpose of Affleck's character going to church and speaking to a priest?
It could have been to show a parallel to Jackson's character who sought guidance through AA - but that had a much more impact on the movie...
5. Didn't Jackson's loan for the house get approved?
The guy said to meet him the next day at 12:30, everything wasn't final yet.
6. Would an law intern REALLY wait all day for an interview, even until after 5pm?
If he *really* wanted the job...
By the way, I liked the movie.
