Sam was the only black guy in GoodFellas when the mob guys had their number one heist, stealing valuables from an airliner. Sam was the driver, but instead of ditching the truck as planned, he stayed with a girlfriend and overslept. The Feds found the truck and used the truck as evidence in busting the group - which became the downfall of the mob guys. The Joe Pesci character peronally went to the apartment where Jackson's character slept, woke him up, talked for a bit, then shot him in the back several times.
